8th Graders Charge Toward High School

Students with awards doing silly poses

Our 8th grade class was honored Friday as they prepare to depart Maywood for high school at our 8th Grade Promotion ceremony. It's an exciting time, and many students dressed to the nines to celebrate. In addition to reading each student's name and recognizing Honor Society members as a group, staff awarded several students with rewards for their accomplishments as Chargers.

  • The Sue Schoeppach Leadership and Service Award is given to students who not only excels academically, but also by demonstrating leadership and forming strong relationships with fellow students. This year Prisha L. and Emilee K. were chosen to receive this award.
  • The Jack Reynolds Sportsmanship and Scholarship Award recognizes our student athletes for their dedication, fair play, and teamwork, as well as their academic achievements. Emerson A. and Tyson H. were this year's honorees.
  • The Robin Wood Performing Arts Award is given to those who have demonstrated talent and leadership in our music classes and related clubs. Michelle L. and Elin T. stood out to our staff as outstanding performers.
  • Finally, the 8th Grade Charger Award is the culmination of our Chargers of the Month. All students chosen throughout the year are nominees. This year our staff chose Norah K. and Jacob H. as our 8th Grade Charger Award winners.

Congratulations to Maywood's 8th graders, the future Class of 2028!
