'Feed Your Future' Guest Speakers Inspire Students

Guest speaker sharing about their career with Maywood students.

Thank you to our recent Feed Your Future guest speakers (and Maywood parents), Laura Mann and Jeffrey Varga, for sharing their career journeys in communications and marketing as well as the technology industry with our students. Our Chargers truly value hearing firsthand stories about how professionals discovered their interests and the steps they took through middle school, high school, and college to reach their goals.

We would love to welcome more parents and community members to join us as speakers. Students consistently tell us how meaningful it is to learn about real career pathways and to ask questions about experiences, challenges, and advice for the future.

Feed Your Future is a lunchtime speaker series where students connect with community members to explore different careers.

Fridays during both lunches:
First Lunch: 10:50–11:20 a.m.
Second Lunch: 11:45 a.m.–12:15 p.m.

Speakers meet with approximately 30 students per lunch in a classroom setting. Students bring their lunches, listen, and engage in conversation. We invite you to share:

  • how you discovered your career path
  • what you remember thinking about in middle school
  • how your interests developed over time
  • advice for students as they prepare for high school and beyond

An interactive TV, laptop connection, and whiteboard are available if you’d like to include visuals.

If you’re interested, please sign up for a date here.
All guest speakers must complete the district volunteer application and be cleared in advance.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to inspire our Chargers and help them “feed their future.” We appreciate our Maywood community for showing up for students in such meaningful ways.
