Maywood Celebrates Our Community's Veterans

On Monday, November 10, Maywood held an assembly to honor Veterans Day. Our ASB Leadership team put together a moving program that included musical performances from our band, orchestra, and choir students. New Maywood teacher and US Army veteran Sergio Camacho shared about how his experience in the military impacted his life. 

Maywood families were invited to send in photos of the veterans related to current students for a slideshow that ran during the assembly, and veterans were invited to attend. We welcomed about 10 veterans and their family members from the US Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marines to be our special guests. The assembly was followed by a reception for them, where they were joined by their Maywood students and our ASB Leadership students, who personally thanked them for their service. Gary Jensen, retired Colonel in the US Air Force and grandfather of a Maywood student commented, "It was a wonderful event. I loved the playing of each service anthem. The students were very respectful to all today."
